A patient came to us who was already tired of struggling with her “old” teeth. Pain, loose prosthetic restorations, repeated treatments that did not produce results… Does this sound familiar?
Behind her outward calm was inner anxiety. She trusted very few people — she had already had the experience of “well-done work” needing to be redone. We understood this at first glance — and decided to act delicately and honestly.
What was there at the beginning: bridge-like prostheses that were holding on “by a thread.” Pain on one side of the jaw and the inability to chew normally. Some teeth under the crowns turned out to be destroyed. Some canals had been undertreated.
The doctor proposed the following treatment plan: remove the "bridges" on the lower jaw and partially extract teeth. Simultaneously with the tooth extractions, place Straumann BLX dental implants.On the upper jaw, remove the bridge-like prostheses and extract 4 teeth. Perform repeat root canal treatment ("re-endo"). Also place Straumann BLX implants.
In the frontal smile area, on teeth 21-13, remove the single crowns and perform one-stage endodontic treatment.
Carry out the prosthetic work by transferring the mock-up model. Restore the frontal tooth area with ceramic prosthetic restorations.
This was a complex case, but absolutely realistic for our team. We created an individual treatment plan, divided it into stages, took into account the patient’s time availability (she did not live in Kyiv), and chose a protocol that allowed us to preserve and restore as much as possible.
Yes, it was a complex path. And a long one — almost a year. But the result was worth it.
Stage 1
Examination. Diagnostics. Treatment plan.
We created a clear step-by-step plan so that the treatment would not exhaust the patient and would fit into her schedule. Each trip to Kyiv was a new stage.
Stage 2
Lower jaw
We removed the old restorations, extracted the destroyed teeth, and immediately placed Straumann BLX implants. A few months later, new zirconia crowns were placed, which hold perfectly.
Stage 3
Upper jaw
We again removed the old prostheses, treated the canals, and extracted the “problem” teeth. Then came implant placement, and Straumann BLX implants were also placed. Temporary restorations were then placed immediately so the patient would not be left without a smile.
Stage 4
Smile zone
We removed the old crowns and treated the teeth under a microscope. We created the ideal tooth shape using a mock-up model (a temporary model for evaluating the future smile). After approval, permanent ceramic restorations were placed.
Treatment summary
One year. Four visits. Long pauses between stages. A lot of logistics and many moments of doubt. But in the end — a woman who did not simply receive new teeth. She regained her calm, confidence, and ease — the smile became not a “gift from dentists,” but her personal victory.
