A patient came to our clinic with a complaint about her dental arch and wanted it corrected. She wanted to have snow-white dental crowns or veneers placed. After the examination and diagnostics, we suggested straightening the teeth with braces to avoid significant removal of tooth tissue during preparation because of the pronounced misalignment of the teeth. The patient refused braces because she found this method unaesthetic.

Therefore, a decision was made to treat her with aligners and then perform minimal tooth preparation for veneer placement, with a preliminary mock-up try-in.

STAGE 1

Doctor’s examination, treatment plan, and jaw scans

After the examination, diagnostics, and preliminary treatment plan, digital impressions of the jaws were taken, a 3D visualization of the result after teeth alignment was created, and the X-ray studies and scans were sent to the laboratory to manufacture the aligners.
STAGE 2

Aligner placement

Attachments for the aligners were transferred into the oral cavity, the first tray was fitted, and the patient was instructed on aligner care. She was given instructions on how to wear the aligners and what to do in unexpected situations. Aligner treatment lasted 6 months
STAGE 3

Veneer try-in

The mock-up was filled with composite material and transferred onto the teeth. In this way, together with the patient, we determined the shape and size of the future teeth. The tooth shade was selected separately.
STAGE 4

Anesthesia. Tooth preparation

After local anesthesia, the doctor began tooth preparation. Aligning the dental arch made it possible to perform the preparation with minimal intervention, and some teeth were not prepared at all.
STAGE 5

Provisional restorations

During the same visit as the scan, temporary dental veneers made of PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) were fabricated and fixed with temporary cement. This allowed the patient to live a normal and comfortable life while the veneers were being made, as well as to make a final decision about the shape and size of the new teeth and adapt to the new smile.
STAGE 6

Veneer placement

After 5 days, the patient's temporary restorations were removed and highly aesthetic ceramic veneers were fixed with a permanent cementing material. She was informed about care and use instructions.
SUMMARY

The treatment lasted 6.5 months and required 5 visits to the clinic (three visits at the alignment stage and two at the prosthetic stage). The patient was very satisfied with the result; our team was able to exceed her expectations, and, as a sign of gratitude and trust in the specialists, she agreed to record a video review.
